Birthday week 2010.

Tyler and I share birthdays 5 days apart. It is the greatest. The whole week is packed with surprises and little presents. I have ZERO pictures of our birthday festivities due to the loss of our camera charger from march on... who knows where... whatever. So I'll have to just sum it up. First of all, I was bummed to find out that I had to work on my birthday. 12 hours. nice birthday right? Actually, it is right. It turned out so much better than having the day off. Co-workers wrote my name in big letters all over the surgery board so everyone knew it was my birthday, so all day long people were shouting "happy birthday! how old are you now? 19? 20? har har" It made for some pretty unique scenarios. A guy nurse that i work with made a toast in my honor at lunch with a carton of chocolate milk, a group of people came in to my OR while my hands are inside a patients abdomen to sing me happy birthday. But the best was at the end of the day. i came home to an empty house (because Tyler was at a track meet) feeling kinda bummed because my day was over, nothing more to look forward to.... then the doorbell rang. Reacting like an 80 year old when my first thought was, "who is ringing my doorbell at 9:45 at night!" I answered the door to find 30 high school boys with their shirts off yelling the happy birthday song as loud as they can. Tyler is on the front lawn giggling and trying to hide. I see the track bus is practically parked in our driveway. Then a sophomore named Will, wearing nothing but teeny-tiny running shorts reads me a poem they wrote that went on for 5 minutes. I wish so bad I had a video of that birthday song. It was so loud and I was cringing thinking about how mad all the neighbors were getting. Turned out to be one of the best birthdays ever...
oh, and we have a new member of our family. It is a blue Betta fish. He has the demeanor of a cool rocker with a warm heart so we named him uncle Jesse.
