This is B10. Plus a construction worker next to Tasha. Bobette made us all shirts AND sweatshirts that said B10. Everywhere we went we heard people whispering, "There goes another one of those B10 shirts! What does that mean?"
Three hours off the plane we were horseback riding on the coast. We had a crazy New Zealand cowboy named Wayne that let us run the horses on the beach even though none of us had any experience with horses... (yes, that includes you Bobette, we all saw you on the horse)
This was the view from the back deck of one of the places we stayed.
White water rafting over the largest commercially run waterfall.
22 feet!!
After the drop we had to celebrate being alive. We made fun of our pervert rafting guide the rest of the trip. He was the worst.
Our jet boating all-star team.
Wahoo! (click on this picture to enlarge it... it's pretty funny)
This was a beautiful valley we stopped the car at to take a break from all the driving. It was the most surreal scene.
I probably took a hundred pictures of the twins here. Since I did an entire blog post to the Twinners, I'll resist and only post one. So cute.
Bungy baby! I convinced Tasha to tandem jump with me. After we jumped we watched the video and I was so embarrassed of myself. I got all weird right before they made us jump - I was all coachy to Tasha with my game face on saying, "Focus Tasha! You ready? Focus!" Like I knew what the heck I was doing! We all had some funny quotes... "It feels like I'm dreaming!" (Tasha, as we are swinging up-side-down) "This is the greatest thing I've ever done in my life!" (Jason). I'm sure Diana will be excited to read that!
Worth the drive... Milford Sound. Green cliffs, waterfalls and dolphins, ooh lala.
Cathedral Square in Christchurch. This picture was taken less than 5 minutes before we felt a pretty legit EARTHQUAKE. It was crazy. Tasha and I totally had that fight or flight response take over. We were all low like a sprinter in a starting block, ready to take off running, but then it stopped. There were big pieces of buildings on the ground and a huge crack up the wall of a hotel. It was scary, but it was kinda cool to feel my first Earthquake!
Huka Falls. We saw some guy carrying his kayak to the falls. We asked him if he was actually going to run his kayak over the falls and he said with a thick New Zealand accent, "I'll give-it-a-go, eh?" He was a pimp!
Maori village. We ate a big Maori feast on Christmas Eve. Then they sang us Silent Night while simultaneously screaming the Haka. It was intense. I think I'll try to start that here in the States.
One of the coolest things we did was go canyoning. We had the best guide and he let us do whatever we wanted even though a lot of it was pretty dangerous with all the rainfall they recently had. We got to rappel, cliff jump and slip n' slide down the rocky canyon. It was amazing.
I still can't believe the stuff they let you do in New Zland... This stuff would never go in the states.
Amber amber...I laughed through this whole post. Especially after I got to talk to you today. After cub and I got off the phone we couldn't stop talking about how funny you are. move here already! I have to say that my two favorite pictures are of you guys wearing sorcerer capes, and then of you guys in the speed boat. they are seriously priceless. This is the first time I've seen the famous babette.
ReplyDeleteyou are hilarious! i miss living with yo so much. that 22 foot cliff you guys went off on your little raft looks so scary.
ReplyDeleteBird!! Unreal. looks like it was a fun trip and love the family T's. So classic. These pics are amAZing. I want to go to the new Z... so jealous. ha. I want to hear all about your trip. call me soon! love you and miss you and want you back in my life.
ReplyDeletei think you might be the coolest person i know. even before i met you i felt nervous to meet you because jake was always saying "amber can do this, amber went no hands, amber jumped off and did a triple sow cow..." and so on. you telling the story of you getting all "coachy" on tasha is sooo funny. i can here you being so serious, and then laughing hysterically at yourself for even taking yourself so seriously in the first place.
ReplyDeleteAaah! Chucky lives! That's creepy. Great little synopsis - I'm totally just going to direct people from my blog to yours for the New Zealand stuff. I was laughing outloud as I read and relived the bungy episode and our earthquake scare. So dang fun. All that was missing was those crazy shagging glow-worms (we'll have to get those pics from Jason).
ReplyDeleteThese pics are amazing! And where can I get one of those shirts. The B10 band is my favorite. I'm their biggest groupie.
ReplyDelete...one more comment. I just noticed that if you blow our first group shot up at the airport, Reagan has a super tough look on her face and you can see her shirt covered in blood.
