Celebrating one year of life together in the marriagehood

Tyler and I just had our one year anniversary! Hip Hip! This week we planned to celebrate our anniversary with a 3 day camping trip in the thick Oregon woods, swimming in crystal clear river pools and jumping off waterfalls. But instead of doing all that, we got to do other great stuff, like eat our campfire breakfast in our car...

I wiped away a frozen tear looking at this beautiful swimming hole. It was June 18th and 54 degrees.

All the rain did make for some pretty pictures
i heart river rocks
Here we are back in the car with the heat on high. This is Tyler screaming and pulling his hair out because we just decided to bag the camping trip after 14 hours of non stop rain and go home... Alright, you win this time Rain. Oh wait a minute, I seem to recall another time rain got the best of us... hmmm, what was it... oh yea, exactly one year ago today at our freaking WEDDING...

We took a ton of dorky pictures like this one just to take shelter anywhere we could. Every bride and groom needs an awkward picture with a big number 18 and 19 above their heads.

Look how drenched Tyler's suit is... It kinda looks camo. He really took one for the team holding that umbrella for me.

(I actually really like this one)

ok, so, since this the one and only day I get to post about having a one year wedding anniversary, I get to be corny... and, uh, yea, SPOILER ALERT (worst phrase ever created) this next part is all about how much

I love TDB

He is the absolute best person I know. I have loved this boy since I was 19, when he walked into my apartment in Provo like he was all that with his hat on backwards.
I love that he knows more names of flowers than I do.

I love tyler because when he's extremely late to meet me somewhere, i'll call him and say, "Where the crap are you?? I'm so sick of waiting on you - You're so annoying!" And instead of arguing, he says, "On my way baby, be there in 2 and 2. That's, 2 minutes, 2 seconds" And its that kind of weirdness that I start smiling on the other end of the phone, try my hardest to still sound mad.

I love how smart Ty is. Our kids stand a chance.

Tyler and I high five each other about 10 times more than we kiss each other. I saw on Oprah that married couples could kiss at least ten seconds everyday. We tried it, and lasted about a week. We high five over everything... Tyler, I made you dinner (high five) Bird, just got the mail (high five) We bought a house (high five).

He looks really good when he runs.

I love the feeling knowing Tyler is there for me in the middle of the night when I wake up screaming or gasping for air from a nightmare. (just so you know, i dream every night. every. single. night. most of them are freaking scary. A few months ago I was googled "Night Terror Disease"to see if maybe I had it) He has learned to comfort me while staying asleep. He'll pat my head with what feels like a dead arm and mumble really sweetly, "its ok am, your alright, shut up now, relax and try to go back to sleep"

I love all the little notes he's written me over the years. I have kept every single one.

I love that he is the least picky eater I know. Every meal I cook seems to be the greatest meal he's ever had. I do not love however, how freaking loud you are crunching those freaking pita chips, right now, in my ear. seriously. Nothing is that crunchy. It sounds like your trying to chew up a bone.

I could go on with a few more but lets be honest, no one really likes reading these kind of posts. People make their relationships sound so idealistic. And so you know, our relationship is not ideal... I'm just getting home from a 12 hour shift at the hospital - Tyler was supposed to come to the hospital to eat dinner with me but he ditched me to stay at his mom's house (shocker), and right now he's crunching pita chips in my ear...oh yeah, did I mention the rain? But despite the good and bad, I really just wanted to say... Happy FIRST Anniversary Ty Ty! This bird still feels smitten.

  1. Love this post! The rain made for great pictures a year ago too! Love you guys and wish we didn't live so stinking far away. I can't believe that it has already been a year...no wonder Brooke looks so tiny in those pictures.

  2. whatever! i LOVE this kind of stuff! I am the ultimate corn nut! plus you could never be corny because even when you write you're still hilarious and realistic, but you're never a downer. my favorite thing about you and tyler is that you go on adventures all the time and you probably always will. wait so married couples are supposed to kiss for 10 seconds a day? oprah isn't even married anyway so who cares.
